In an effort to streamline requirements for Court proceedings, the Minnesota legislature has created a new way of certifying Court documents. MN Statute 358.116 allows for the language, “I declare under penalty of perjury that everything I have stated in this document is true and correct.”
Although this may since not so exciting for the average client – in reality this allows practitioners to really simplify getting things done for you. When filing a motion and affidavit, no longer do clients need to rush to their attorney’s office to sign in front of a notary or go to a bank. With this language, a client can sign and scan/fax back to their attorney with relative ease.
Sometimes it’s the simplest fixes in life that can make things so much easier!
